Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant writer, syndicated columnist, television host, and author. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001, and shortly thereafter , the company was sold. Corcoran was a participant in 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. In February 2020 Corcoran had signed 53 deals, with the largest being a $350,000 investment that was able to cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 children from a Catholic family with a low-income, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and a homemaker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on free food deliveries from a local grocery store. Corcoran remembers her father, who was a drunk at times excessively, and behaved towards her mother in a manner that was disrespectful and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran struggled throughout her schooling and later discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at a local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed numerous classes in her freshman year, transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
